BJCTA Hires New Communications Director

Birmingham, AL. – The Birmingham Jefferson County Transit Authority (BJCTA) has hired Ronda Robinson to serve as Director of Communications. She comes to BJCTA with more than 21 years of broadcast experience at radio and television stations in North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida and Alabama. She was most recently the “On Your Side” consumer reporter and anchor for WBRC/Fox 6 in Birmingham.

Ms. Robinson will be responsible for leading a department that handles communications efforts at the state’s largest transit agency. Her department is responsible for: media relations, public affairs, social media, marketing and crisis communication. This senior executive team level position also comes with additional responsibilities in governmental relations and community outreach.

She was introduced to the staff and Board of Directors today at the regularly scheduled board meeting. “This is a good hire for the agency,” said Board Secretary/Treasurer Johnnye P. Lassiter. “This is a position we have needed for quite some time,” said Board Chairman, Patrick Sellers. Ms. Robinson officially starts her duties at BJCTA February 1, 2017.
